Salon Etiquette

Booking Deposit
Bookings for services over two hours may attract a prepaid deposit, or you can provide credit card details. This will secure and confirm your booking with us.

Our SMS Service
As a courtesy we may send you an sms reminder at least 48 hours prior to your appointment, reminding you of your appointment date and time.

Bodybarn.com can not guarantee this service and impress on you not to rely on this service to remind you of your appointment. You will still be charged for missed appointments even if you do not receive a text reminder.

Cancellation & Bookings Policy
Cancellation policies are never fun; however, much like a Dental surgery we have many bookings. Subsequently, late rescheduling and no shows ultimately results in other clients missing out on appointment opportunities and disrupts the work schedule for the therapist or stylist. We do our very best to accommodate your schedule.

However, if you fail to turn up for your scheduled appointment as a ‘no show’ you will be charged in full for the services you originally booked for, if applicable your gift voucher will be voided, and any deposit paid will be retained. In order to avoid incurring unnecessary costs and as a matter of common courtesy, we request that you provide us with at least 24 hours notice for all cancellations and/or rescheduling.

Late Arrival
Arriving late will limit the time of your treatment, lessening its effectiveness and your enjoyment. Your treatment will end on time so that the next client is not delayed.

Children
In consideration for all our clients and for their safety, children are not permitted in the treatment rooms and must be well mannered and supervised at all times whilst in the hair salon. Parents/ guardians are responsible for the cost of any breakages to bodybarn.com products or property.

Treatment Times
Times quoted are a guide only and include all procedures between arrival and departure from the salon, ie, consultation, changing of clothing, etc.

Frequently asked questions

How long will my St. Tropez spray tan take to apply?
The St. Tropez Spray Tan Treatment is the quickest way to get a professional finish. Delivered in around 15 minutes, the spray is quick drying and now features Aromaguard™ fragrance technology which eliminates the tell-tale self tan aroma by a minimum of 70%.

What should I do BEFORE my St. Tropez spray tan treatment?
      • Skin should be free from self tan, perfume, deodorant and aromatherapy oils

      • Waxing or shaving should be completed at least 24 hours prior to the treatment

      • The evening or morning before your treatment, exfoliate your entire body with St.Tropez Body Polish. Pay special attention to dry areas of your body such as hands, elbows, knees and feet

      • Wear dark, loose fitting clothing with dark coloured underwear. The guide colour may stain light hair, man-made fibres and wool

How can I keep my St. Tropez spray tan looking gorgeous for longer?
      • Apply St. Tropez Body Moisturiser or St. Tropez Body Butter daily.

      • Exfoliate your skin with St. Tropez Body Polish every 2-3 days to ensure even fading.

      • After showering pat the skin dry rather than rubbing.

      • Avoid swimming pools as chlorine can bleach the tan.

How long does a Jessica polish take to dry?
We advise our clients to allow the polish one hour before wearing closed toe shoes or gloves. It may be "touch-dry" before you leave the salon, but the undercoats will take longer to dry.

What should I bring to a Pedicure appointment?
We advise our clients to allow the polish 30 minutes to dry and at least one hour before wearing closed toe shoes or boots.

How long does it take for gel nails to dry?
Gel nails are processed under a UV lamp and are dry almost immediately... there is no drying time.

When should I have a patch test prior to an Eyelash Tint appointment?
In order to comply with insurance regulations, we are particularly strick about a tint patch test between 48 to 24 hours prior to your appointment. Following the test, you should look out for any changes in your skin where the patch was tested and let us know immediately.

What is a Bodybarn.com Brazilian Waxing?
To some people it might be a strip, shape or triangle left - this would be our "Brief". To us a Brazilian waxing is the hair removal in and around the perineum vagina and anus... in other words "all off".

How long does a Brazilian waxing take?
Depending on the density of the hair growth, your waxing appointment will take between 30-50 minutes, for first timers we allow 60 minutes. A little painful, yes, but with swift strong hands and an efficient therapist by your side, it will be over very quickly, the results are well worth it. We do a fair amount of Brazilians each month. Your therapist will comfort and consult with you to find out how bare you want to go, and we will work within those guidelines. Not everyone goes "all the way" the first time.

When is the best time to have a Brazilian Wax?
The best time is to be waxed about a week after your menstrual cycle, try to avoid caffeine, nicotine, lack of sleep and stress as these can make you feel over sensitive during your treatment.

How long will the waxing results last?
After a client's first waxing, the results can last 3 to 6 weeks depending on the individual's hair re-growth rate. In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and fourth week. Heat stimulates the hair, therefore hair grows quicker in the summer months than in the winter. With regular waxing the length of time between treatments will increase. Continued regular waxing results in sparse hair re-growth over time.

When is the best time for a waxing treatment?
The best time is to be waxed about a week after your menstrual cycle, try to avoid caffeine, nicotine, lack of sleep and stress as these can make you feel over sensitive during your treatment.

    Male Waxing Advice?
Men tend to have courser, curlier and thicker hair than women. So making sure you are well informed before embarking on some serious male waxing, here are a few points to consider.

      • Because male hair is courser, men can experience white heads. These are small pimples or a rash that lasts for a few days. This mostly occurs in the chest, back and groin area. This is caused by bacteria that enters the open follicle especially during and after perspiration.

      • Make sure you wash as soon as possible after a work out with a loafer and an anti bacterial wash which contains Tea Tree (we recommend ESPA Tea Tree Gel). Using a loafer & an anti bacterial Tea Tree wash & lotion will help clear the area of dead skin & sweat build up. This will also minimize the potential for rashes, itchiness, ingrown hairs and pimples.

      • Make sure with any treatments you book yourself in ask for the therapist to explain the after care methods and lotions you may require after your treatment to make sure you get the best results out of your waxing service.

      • Adhering to these after care procedures will ensure that you achieve maximum results by ensuring that your freshly waxed skin looks healthy and lasts longer with minimal irritation. So please follow these instructions like it's a new regime and you will be delighted with the results!

    Are our Therapists fully qualified?
Bodybarn.com therapists are fully trained in body waxing. All staff are NVQ, IHBC qualified and also receive in house training from the highly experienced owner, Tamara Bonnar. We use the finest waxes available and have developed the best techniques for men and women.

How can I be sure the stylist will do what I want?
We always perform a hair consultation before we begin, this could be asking if you were happy with your last hair service and your style or a comprehensive colour discussion. Our consultations are tailored to your needs. It’s also really important to explain what you want and to be honest, if you don’t want something that has been suggested speak up!

How can I help my stylist to understand what I want?
The best answer to this is making sure you bring in as many pictures and photos of what you want done. This gives the stylist a much better understanding and then can explain to you the best method to achieve what you are after... "a picture says a thousand words."

    Are all the stylists qualified?
All bodybarn.com stylists and colourists are not only qualified to UK NVQ standards, they experience training from WELLA and AVEDA.

How do I know if my cut or colour will suit my lifestyle?
It’s really important to explain your lifestyle needs so we can custom cut and colour your hair in accordance with your daily routine and commitments to colour. If you don’t have much time, you don’t want a high maintenance style. For example blondes need regular at home care and regular salon visits.

How do I prevent my perminant colour from being washed away?
The reason for this could be due to your after care products. Many commercial products either coat the hair or strip the hair, so after a couple of weeks hair looks dull and lifeless. This will also be discussed with you during your hair service about using the correct products for you and your new colour or cut.

What if I am really not happy with my new style?
Please don't be afraid to tell us as we would rather have the opportunity to help you than never see you again! If you are not happy, call us within a week and we'll re-do it free, no questions asked and delivered with a smile!
